Remember friend as you walk by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now you will surely be
Prepare thyself to follow me.
The desire for people to mark the graves of those they love as a place to mourn and remember stretches back tens of thousands of years. The introduction of stone markers in the 1600's means today we can stroll through old graveyards and read the names of people long gone from a different time. This small collection of gravestone pieces was inspired by a walk through a small cemetery in my hometown of Sudbury England, each stone dating back to the late 1800's.
The second Gravestone pendant has an ornate shape and a beautiful fleur-de-lis pointed top, with each line of detail created from sheet metal with a jewelers saw. An ornate archway in the center holds a deep black onyx within. On the back sits a hidden bail and a handmade ivy leaf to represent the ivy vine found growing on the actual gravestone the piece is based on. The metal has been distressed and blackened to make it look as antiqued as possible.
It hangs from an 18' sterling silver chain. If you would like the chain shortened / need an extender added on please email me immediately after checkout.
Composed of .999 fine and .925 sterling silver.
